Barre and CardioBarre

Daytime TV host Kelly Ripa says she’s “never been addicted to something like this.” Actress Parker Posey credits it for making her “the strongest I’ve ever been.” It’s the hottest workout in New York and Los Angeles, and Evolutions was the first health club in Annapolis to offer it.

What is “it”? Barre!

Barre classes at Evolutions are results driven. This high energy, no impact workout is designed to strengthen and stretch every muscle group in the body using a ballet barre and your own body weight. You will tone your muscles, and become strong, lean and limber.

Part precision, part flow, this powerful workout requires concentration and control as each movement is performed at tempo, while keeping the core engaged. First, there is a warm up and a light hand weight series. Then the class moves to the barre for seat and thigh work, before wrapping up with abdominal/core strengthening exercises. Each section of strengthening exercises is followed by a deep stretch to create a long, lean look and increased range of motion.

What is “CardioBarre?

This unique workout is designed to trim, tone and transform the body with a fusion of ballet, Pilates and resistance training. Choreographed movements using the ballet barre, light weights and a glide board are set to motivating music. By blending dynamic movement with calorie blasting cardio, CardioBarre targets those trouble zones such as the hips, thighs, gluts and core; delivering one powerful workout with amazing results. The result is a lean and sculpted body in minimal time.

Our Barre and CardioBarre classes are popular. Due to the limited number of spaces available, classes fill up quickly. Please arrive early to set up your space. Advanced registration is recommended.
