In this 3 hour workshop each person will both learn how to give and receive a 60 minute assisted yin practice. Yin yoga is a quiet practice that effects the physical, emotional and energetic aspects of our being. On a physical level it goes beneath the superficial muscles to target the joints and dense connective tissues of the body. With age, inactivity or injury connective tissue contracts causing tightness, stiffness and limited flexibility. On a mental and emotional level we reach a level of stillness in each pose. This combined with deep breathing allows our bodies to relax and our minds to reach a state of inner calm. The receiver remains relaxed while the provider folds and holds the receiver’s body in classic Yin positions for up to five minutes. This eliminates effort for the receiver, allows the receiver to get into poses they normally could not do on their own and facilitates a deeper level of physical and emotional release. The end result is increased flexibility, a more contemplative non- reactive quality of mind, and increased energy flow. No partner necessary.
